Getting There
We took the Swan Quarter Ferry for only $15 each way. This was a closer drive of the ferries from the Triangle Area of NC. There is another one from Cedar Island or you can drive all the way to Hatteras Island and take a free 45-minute ferry ride. We took the free ferry to Hatteras for a day trip.
Things to See
When you get off the ferry there is a free Preservation Society Museum right there with some history of the island and a gift shop. There is also Teach’s Hole which is a Blackbeard exhibit and pirate shop.
Ocracoke Lighthouse
Jim Steveson’s Nature Tail – a Small easy hike that leads to the beach.

We had a few trips to Ocracoke Coffee Co. The crescent donuts and Cinnamon Roll Soufflé was delicious.
