What To Do In The Cayman Islands.

We went to the Cayman Islands for our Honeymoon.  It was a little interesting considering my husband didn’t realize his passport was expired until we were checking into our flight.  He had to stay behind and get that renewed and flew down a few days later which only gave us 3 days together on the island. We had to do a little bit of rearranging of activities to fit the top priorities in those three days.  So lesson learned to check your passport expiration!! We also learned in this process that some countries don’t allow you in if your expiration date is within 6 months! 1 deposit casino uk.com Which seems crazy, but its due to the fact that it could expire in the period of time you could be in the country.  I did some research and it seemed the Cayman Islands were safe, so I decided to head down on our original book flight and spend a few days by myself.  We really like to walk around and explore when we are on vacation, so I am not a big fan of places where you need to stay at the resort.  This was definitely not the case for the Caymans Islands. The two days when I was alone I still walked all over and never felt like I was in danger or even saw any sketchy areas.

Visit 7 Mile Beach

It is technically I guess like 5.3 miles, but I guess 7 mile just sounds better. 🙂 This is where the majority of the hotels on the island are. It is really nice clean stretch of beach.  It is all public, so you can walk the entire thing.

Sting Ray City Tour

This was by far my favorite thing we did on our trip.  It was such a thrilling and different experience.  I really thought I was going to get right back out of the water the first time they came close to me, but it was almost like an adrenaline rush more than fear. Even if you chicken out and stay on the boat the boat ride and snorkel stops are worth the money.

Queen’s Botanical Garden

This isn’t a must do, but it was nice.  If you have extra days you want to find additional activities for it is a nice place to walk around.  The gift shop was also very reasonably priced compared to other gift shops and the prices were in US dollars so there wasn’t additional mark up there too. It was $12 per adult at the door with no line.  I saw some websites selling advanced tickets so you don’t have to wait in line for $22, so don’t fall for that.

Go To Hell!

In Hell, there is a small black rock formation with a few gift shops and a post office.  The post office and one of the gift shops were closed on the day we went.  They were still able to stamp our postcards and passports from the one that was open and he dropped them off in the mail for us.   They safely made it to the destinations a little over a week later.

Where to Eat!

Big Tree BBQ was really good and a cheap eat.  A family cooks and puts catering trays and picnic tables out in their front yard.  This was the Cayman Style beef.

Grand Cayman Catamaran Dinner Cruise The dinner cruise was $85 a person and lasted 3 hours.  We definitely recommend it.  I would request to sit on the outside of the boat or get there early enough to see if they can move you to a seat on the outside.  They originally had us at a table on the inside and we wouldn’t have got nearly as good of a view if we sat inside.  The people who were seated at tables on the inside were able to at least walk to the edge and stand while waiting for the dinner part of the cruise.

Chicken! Chicken!  Was very reasonably priced with good portions.  This is right next to Cayman Yoga Club, so I would smell the chicken cooking to and from my yoga classes.

The Lobster Pot was a little fancier/pricer but was also very good.  The lobster pot is a restaurant right on the water.  I would suggest making a reservation and asking for an outdoor seat on the deck.  At 7 pm they ring a bell and go outside and feed Tarpon.  If you don’t know what Tarpon is, it is a pretty large fish with a big fin on its back.  When they all swarm to get the food they look like a bunch of small sharks.

Get Some Memories That Will Last!

I found Guy Waller on Instagram and was so happy I did! These were a few of the many pictures he took of us while we were there.  He was very flexible and is obviously very talented in photography.  He does all types of photography, so not just couples!  You can click his name above for a link to his website or here to follow him on Instagram.  My husband wasn’t super excited about doing a photo shoot, but he was able to get plenty of pictures that could fool ya! 😉

Visit Camana Bay

Camana Bay is a little downtown area.  There was a walking path not too far from our hotel off 7-mile beach that went there.  I really wish we got to do the food tour.  They weren’t offering it at the time we went due to being busy around the holiday season.

Take A Yoga Class

Cayman Yoga Club was super nice and pretty new.   I believe they said it opened within the past year.  You can show up early before class or hang out a little after they have tea and books in the lobby area.  They charge $19 per class or $59 for a 30-day pass.  I knew I was going to try and take at least 3 classes, so I just did the 30-day pass.  You can see their class schedule here.  I did the Power Vinyasa with Janine, Restorative with Hally, and Vin Yin with Mark.  They were all really awesome instructors and good classes. I actually stumbled upon Janine’s Instagram when searching the Cayman Islands and it’s pretty awesome.  You can check that out here.

Visit Starfish Point

Starfish Point is a public beach with of course Starfish! We counted about 30 walking along the beach.  This isn’t walking distance from 7-mile beach, so you will need a rental car.

What I Would Like To Do On My Next Trip!

Crystal Caves

Turtle Center – This seemed more geared towards kids, so we decided to pass and would definitely check it out if we went back with kids.

Bioluminescence Tour – I read the brightest one is in Puerto Rico.  We’re hoping to go there soon, so decided to pass on this.
