I am almost 30, so I have decided it is time to start taking care of my skin the way I probably should have started many years ago. This 10 step Korean skincare routine is good for Antiaging, fades spots, reduces acne, hydrates. I have sensitive skin and all of these products I used in this post were non-irritating. Cerave products were recommended by my dermatologist, so you will see many of these products are the Cerave brand.
The Steps
- Cleansing Oil – This first step of the Korean skincare routine completely removes any makeup or oil from your face. Apply cleansing oil in a circular motion all over face including eyes and lips to remove all makeup.
- Foaming Cleanser – The next step, the foaming cleanser forms tiny bubbles to remove any dirt or left-over residue from step one. Lather up in your hands to get it nice and foamy, then apply in a circular motion and completely rinse with warm water.
- Exfoliate – Exfoliating helps remove dead skin and turn over skin cells to rejuvenate your skin and leaving it smoother. It also helps remove blackheads to minimize your pores. Your skin type will depend on how often you need to do this. Typically, about two times a week if you have dry skin maybe 3-4 times. Apply your exfoliator in gentle circular motions on your face. This Olay Microderm Abrasion Kit is my best friend! I can’t believe the difference it makes after just one use. I am super picky on my scrub and I haven’t found anything I like more than this one. It is a little pricier than the other products. However, since you are only using it a few times a week, it will last you a long time.
- Toner – neutralizes the pH of skin. After you wash your face your skin is more alkaline, when it is neutralized it absorbs better and benefits from the next steps. Apply toner to a cotton ball and wipe all over your face. If you are using a spray toner, mist your entire face and then pat into your face.
- Essence– Essence formula is between a toner and a serum. They have concentrated nutrients and vitamins to improve tone, hydrate, restore, and reduce fine lines. Apply a few drops to your fingers and pat all over face.
- Serum – Is thicker than toner and essence and helps even skin tone and build elasticity to make your skin look younger. Use fingertips to massage the serum all over face.
- Eye Cream – Delivers hydration and collagen to remove dark under eyes and prevent wrinkles. At night, gently apply with the tips of your ring finger to your eye area and any other area with fine lines or wrinkles. Your ring fingers are your weakest fingers so there is less tugging and pulling on this gentle thin skin.
- Sheet Mask – they are full of vitamins, nutrients, and hydration. This will make your skin appear brighter. Apply to damp skin and pat on and wear about 10 min. If you wear too long once the mask starts drying out it starts removing moisture from your face. DO NOT WASH IT OFF this is a serum you will want to leave on.
- Moisturizer – Moisturizing helps prevent aging. Rub gently all over your entire face. I absolutely love the texture of this moisturizer on my face. A dermatologist had once told me that if your lotion/moisturizer can come out of a pump it is watered down. This moisturizer is in a tub and feels amazing.
- Sunscreen – The last step of the Korean skincare routine is done if it your skin will be exposed to the sun. You want to use a moisturizer with sunscreen in it. One that has UVA and UVB is best because it helps prevent skin from aging.
