Poshmark Closet Clear Out Tips and Tricks
Closet clear out (CCO) is a Sale that Poshmark does. You will see a notification banner on the top of your news feed when it is active. It’s not consistently going on. They just do it on random days. They are doing one today(Friday) and they also did one the previous Friday. Closet Clear Out is when you reduce the price by 10% Poshmark will send the likers an offer for 4.99 shipping for 6 hours. The Minimum final price must be $10 to qualify. This is different than “offer to likers” because the shipping discount comes out of Poshmark’s cut not your own! I will be doing a Poshmark Tips and Tricks Series. Keep a lookout or subscribe to my email list to be notified when I post more Poshmark posts.
This can be super hit or miss. I can have a day with a ton of sales and then a Closet Clear Out with no sales. I had 6 sales at last Friday’s Closet clear out. It is still worth it for me because I do not decrease the prices on other days I just wait to do decreases on these days. When I list I always list for more than I am hoping to get, so I can take advantage of Closet Clear Out and when people ask for discounts.
If you don’t have a Poshmark account yet you can sign up on their website or app and use promo code SFINKE08 to get $10 toward your first purchase.
What Items to Offer the Discount on
Do not lower prices of items with no likes, because no one will get a notification. Wait until another Closet Clear Out when someone likes that item. If it’s an item that only has a few likes and I recently listed it sometimes I will wait until a future closet clear out when it has more likes. Some poshers reraise the price after the sale in hopes someone will pay the original price at some point and they have more room to negotiate. You have to manually raise each price when you edit the listing. I do not reraise, because I am only decreasing prices on items I am ready to discount the price if it sat too long.
How Much Should you Discount
It must be reduced by 10% of the all-time low the price has been at. If you ever reraised the price it won’t work with just 10% off the raised price. You can avoid this by relisting the item if you ever get to the point where it didn’t sell after a Closet Clear Out, but you don’t think you will ever want to discount more than that dollar amount. The item also can not be dropped under $10 or the shipping discount will not apply. Don’t drop more than 10%, because that is all you need to do to get the discounted shipping. People still might offer you less than the 10%, because they don’t understand that if they make less of an offer they no longer get the discounted offer.
List List List
When you list item your closet gets more attention. During these Closet Clear out Days is a good time to list.
When to Send the Offers
Send the offers later in the day. The most amount of people are active around the nighttime party (10pm EST). If you send them in the morning or during the day when people are at work they might not see the offer until after the 6-hour window expires
Share Share Share
The more you share the more people see your items and like it. People are more likely to buy the item when they freshly liked it. I feel like not too many people would like something and then a month or two later make the purchase. If they liked it enough to buy they probably would have already bought it. (This is just my opinion!! I don’t have any research on this) This is why you will also see people suggesting to relist an item if it’s taking too long to sell. Don’t worry about losing the likes of people who clearly didn’t like it enough to buy.
